Safety & Privacy
How do you ensure U4U is a safe space?
Safety and Privacy are at the top of our priority list!

We follow a 12-Point Safety Commitment, beginning with a careful screening process for every new member before they're place in a House. Our approach to maintaining trust and safety includes:
-
Thorough onboarding and screening of each applicant before placement in a House.
-
Warm introductions and guided interactions led by House Leads to establish positive community norms.
-
A clear user pledge that outlines expectations and consequences.
-
Built-in member monitoring and reporting tools that empower girls to flag unsafe behavior and practice digital safety skills they can use everywhere.
-
Active keyword monitoring across the platform to detect and address inappropriate language.
-
A safety-first design: limited image sharing (non-identifying only), restricted personal information exchange, and a focus on developmental sharing - not the kind of content predators seek.
-
Continuous innovation: our Trust & Safety team continuously implements best-in-class safeguards and is working with advanced AI tools to detect and act on risks within minutes.
How do you keep users safe from inappropriate interactions on the platform?
We combine technology, community guidelines, and education:

-
Every member signs a pledge outlining rules of respect and safety.
-
All communication is monitored by ‘house leads’ and subject to periodic audits.
-
We restrict personal sharing (no full names or contact info).
-
We use best-in-class safety tools that educators rely on in student platforms.
-
We notify parents of users under 13, and inform them of the option to opt their daughter out of U4U.
What information do you collect?
Privacy and safety are our top priorities. We have multiple safeguards in place and seek to limit information shared so we can effectively monitor without storing private details. User share:

-
School grad, City and School verification. Girls are not assigned to houses unless this information can be verified.
-
Limited personal information (no last names or personal contact information)
-
Anonymity tools — girls are encouraged to use avatars, not photos. They are able to use photos if they choose, but avatars are highly encouraged.
-
Monitored communications between “sisters” with tech audits to recognize and notify U4U of red flags.
-
Continuous safety reviews — user protection is always on the top of our agenda.
What happens if someone isn’t a teen girl?
They are immediately removed from the platform.

What if someone violates the pledge or terms?
They receive a warning, then suspension if needed, and permanent removal for serious or repeated violations. Ongoing education and reminders are built into the experience.

What if someone is being mean?
U4U is built to be a positive, supportive space. Each House has a House Lead who sets the tone and encourages kindness, so negativity is rare. If unkind behavior does come up, we follow a clear, tiered process: first a reminder of the pledge, then guidance from the House Lead, followed by suspension if needed, and finally removal if the behavior continues. This way, girls can count on U4U to stay safe and uplifting.
