Platform Experience
What do girls do within the U4U app?
Within the app, girls engage in these key activities:

Do girls post photos or personal info?
Users sign a pledge that they will not share personal info on the app. There is limited photo sharing and guidance that photos shared should not hold any personal information. Photos shared are based on curriculum prompts such as “share a photo of a tree in your neighborhood.” The photo prompts are designed to focus the intention of the photo as a part of a users personal development journey.

Is there liking or commenting?
No. U4U is about growth and connection, not popularity contests.

What can sisters send each other?
Text messages only — no photos or videos.

How do you make sure girls aren’t spending too much time on U4U?
Activities are designed to be short and impactful, and rewards encourage balance and consistency, not endless scrolling. The average U4U user spends 6 minutes per day on the platform.
How do girls earn and redeem points?
Girls earn points for completing activities, doing daily mood and sleep check-ins, and supporting their sisters. Points can be redeemed for gift cards or charity donations.
How does the U4U app help users with their holistic development?
Every component of the U4U app is built around helping girls develop across U4U’s 4 Pillars of Personal Development ©. The four pillars are Self, Connection, Culture and Environment.

What are U4U Groups for girls?
U4U Groups for Girls are small, guided peer circles designed to give teen girls (ages 11–18) a safe, supportive, and fun space to grow together.
-
Small-group format: 6–12 girls meet regularly, most typically virtually
-
Facilitated by trained guides: Each group has a trusted adult leader to create structure, ensure safety, and spark meaningful discussion.
-
Focused themes: Sessions cover topics that matter most to teen girls today—confidence, friendships, social media, body image, leadership, stress management, and more.
-
Interactive & creative: Girls engage through challenges, activities, journaling, and conversation—designed to make self-development feel engaging, not like “school.”
-
Peer connection: Girls share experiences, celebrate wins, and learn from one another in a supportive, judgment-free community.
U4U Groups give girls their own “team” outside of school - where they can grow confidence, resilience, and lifelong skills - while knowing they’re not alone.
